Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Fourball ("we", "us") collects when you use the Fourball app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Fourball you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address. Sign in uses a one time code sent to your email, so we do not store a password.
• Profile information. A display name and the team names you choose for your leagues.
• Gameplay information. The leagues you create or join, the golfers you pick each week, and your scores and standings.
• Device information. If you enable notifications, a push token so we can tell you when picks open or results are in.
• Purchase information. If you buy Fourball Pro to remove ads, we record that your account is entitled to it. Payment is handled by the App Store or Google Play, so we never see or store your card details.
• Advertising information. If you see ads, Google AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier and standard ad request data, such as device type and general, IP based location, to serve and measure ads.
• Technical information. Basic, standard request data such as app version and general device type, used to keep the service running.
• Diagnostics. If the app crashes or freezes, we collect an anonymous crash/error report (device type, app version, and the technical state at the time) so we can find and fix the problem.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To run the game: build your leagues, record your picks, and calculate live scoring and standings.
• To send you notifications you have opted into, such as a reminder that picks are open.
• To show ads that keep Fourball free, and to let you remove them by purchasing Fourball Pro.
• To keep the service reliable and to prevent abuse.

Third party services we use

We use a small number of trusted providers to operate Fourball. We share only what is needed for each to do its job.

• Clerk handles sign up and sign in, and stores your email securely.
• Google AdMob serves the ads that keep Fourball free. See the Advertising section below.
• RevenueCat, with the Apple App Store and Google Play, processes in app purchases such as Fourball Pro. Payment is handled by the store; we never receive your card details.
• DataGolf provide golf data such as fields, odds, and live scores. We send no personal data to them.
• Vercel hosts the app and the API.
• Turso stores your league and gameplay data.
• Expo, with Apple (APNs) and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging), delivers push notifications.
• Sentry collects crash and error diagnostics so we can find and fix problems.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. Inside a league, your display name, team name, picks, and scores are visible to other members of that league, which is the point of the game. Picks stay hidden from other members until the tournament tees off. To serve ads, Google AdMob and its advertising partners receive your advertising identifier and ad request data as described below.

Advertising

Fourball is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may use your device's advertising identifier and standard ad request data. Depending on your choices, ads may be personalised, based on that data, or non personalised.

• Consent. In the UK and EU we show a consent prompt, using Google's User Messaging Platform, before any personalised ads. On iOS we ask for App Tracking Transparency permission; if you decline, you still see ads, but non personalised ones.
• Your controls. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings, and change your consent choices at any time.
• Remove ads. Buying Fourball Pro removes every ad, permanently.

Google's handling of advertising data is governed by Google's Privacy & Terms.

Data retention

We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information, keeping only what we are required to keep by law.

Your choices and rights

• You can edit your display name and team names in the app at any time.
• You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. This permanently removes your account and personal data.
• You can request a copy of your data by emailing us at the address below.

Children

Fourball is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above.
